Here's a look at the Long Cannons with the billet tips. These have been ceramic coated flat black so you'll have to use your imagination to see them dressed in chrome.

Check out the photo post member galleries (RamSound). I have at least 4 different pics that show the long slash cuts. I think they look great on the bike - IMO, better than all others I've seen.

This is the only one I have of it with the SS pipes on. They look good with or without the billet tips and sound even better.

Thanks guys. That pic was taken almost a year ago. No changes since, other than I replaced the stock pillion for the 07 model (for my wife). Next month - Big Bore! After 10,000 miles, I still haven't seen a bike I would trade for. I just want a little more oomph for 2-up riding.

Not the best shot of the pipes, but here are my Long Cannons. Dang Roadie - I forgot how good your bike looks with that brown/black/green combo!

Ditto on that. I got mine a week after I bought the bike. I would have gotten them sooner, but was waiting for more to come in to my dealer. Sound more throaty than most I've heard with a noticeable performance boost (assuming jet changes, etc.). I've got over 11,000 on mine.
I took the baffles out once and rode around the block. Put them back in and haven't done that again. Sometimes I think mine are a bit loud, but only until I ride with my Harley friends. Then they seem quite respectable.

Hi, Just fitted SS short cuts and thinking of changing jets. Just wondered what you guys are running or would recommend with the AI and snork gone and a Uni fitted. Currently running 125 & 42 jets with TBS needles and 1 shim. Screws are about 3 out. Looking at Diq's site I was thinking of 130 & 45's, leaving the TBS's in without a shim. I also have some thumb screw air mix thingies so I'll fit them and perhaps drill the slides?
I've also taken out the baffles, It's bl**** loud, I'm not sure i'd stick with it.. would leaving them out mean upping the jets?
Sorry for all the Q's but would appreciate any thoughts.

Straight pipes, no baffles would definitely change your jetting needs. I have the stock baffles, with about 25% of the packing removed. I'm running the jets SS sent: 132.5/45, stock needles, no shims and my bike runs like a champ. A/F screws set at 3 turns out with just a tiny bit of popping, which I like. 3.25 turns out removes the popping.

Cheers for the info. Will try the new jets and try and compare with and without baffles as soon as it stops raining....Probably around April... Larry

I'm running SS long cannons with a K&N filter and no snorkle 42/125 and Thrux needle with two shims and having really good results...no dyno charts yet but my seat-of-the-pants-dyno tells me it's pretty good. Wish I could say the screws are "so many turns out" but really I started at 2.5 turns and just adjusted them by ear until it idled and ran good.

If it feels good and the decel popping isn't bad, you're probably ok. My service dealer really believes that keeping the screws in is better overall becuase it affects the entire range more than changing pilots. If you have to turn them out more than the 3 turns, I'd try 45 pilots. I had the same set up almost exactly that you have until I had the BB done. I think I was 2.5-3 turns out. Now I've got 45s (I had them initially when I put on the SS pipes) again and only 2 turns out.

It makes this unbelievable throaty low growl on decel with an occasional kaboom that just makes my day every time.

They were already coated when I bought the bike; this particular coating seems to be quite durable and is dead simple to keep clean. Forum member TBANGA is the original owner and I'm pretty sure he had the work done in the Atlanta area.

actually, I have another question (always huh? lol)
I've already taken out the baffles in the SS pipes, and I've removed some of the fiberglass (read about it on triumphant's homepage) and right now I have only used gaffa tape to hold it in place. Can I just use that, or will the gaffa melt, burn or whatever after a while?

It's going to melt and then it's going to burn. Get some 18 guage stainless or aluminum wire and tie it in place, regular steel wire will rust so it's best to avoid that type.

that's what I thought. I was just wondering cause the fiberglass were held in place with masking tape when it came. but I will get some screen and do like triumphant did.

I have "hardware screen" wrapped around my fiberglass packing, added after I removed about 25% of the packing. Lowes had this "hardware screen" product on the shelf, it's a few bucks. Snip to size but wear gloves - those open edges are helll on the hands! I checked mine afer a year & a half and the hardware screen was fine.

done and done!
now, Dale sent me some jets also, and I've been reading hard using the search-function. The jets he sent were 130 mains and 45 pilots. Should I put in the 45's or stick with the 42's? I've read a zillion posts, and none seem to give the answer I'm looking for...
