As some of you know, I have been hankering after a bit of Rocky Mountain High for some time now (approaching "eons" I think!), and being the stubborn, pig-headed and slightly THICK skulled (although I like to think of it as persistent and determined, thanks!) person that I am, am STILL going at it. Well, yesterday, I found the MOTHER-LODE of a perfect job!!! Now, heck yes, I sent my resume in, they even pay relocation!!, but do not honestly expect to ever hear back from them, but boy oh boy, if I did!!! Check out the photos of their "offices" Talk about "cubicle heck", NOT!!!!! And I think that they actually PAY people to work here, although I might consider charity work...

There's a place up in Hinesburg VT that has an office like that. Like a hunting lodge more than an office. I forget the name of it off the top of my head, but I think they worked on alternative energy sources, like windmills, etc. If it wasn't so far from everything, I would have applied. If I move back to VT, I want to be close to family... No point in moving Kim and I BOTH far from family...

Ski, Hunt, fish, hike...

OH, you mean work-wise! They are an engineering firm that does electronically actuated valves. If you've heard any of the stuff about camless engines where solenoids actuate the valves instead of a cam and lifters, that's them. The guy started by developing electronic valves for the Apollo Program, and is now working on this for Hydraulic valves, Engine Valves, and stuff like that. He apparently has some pretty heavyweight companies working with him on it, since the increases in performance, emissions, etc... would be phenomonal. You could vary valve timing in infinite amounts and individually by cylinder, as well as shutting down cylinders during cruising, stuff like that. Like I said, it's a VERY long shot (about like going to the moon), but all they can do is shove my resume in File 13... Regardless, there are a couple more "mainstream" companies I am looking at in Colorado Springs, and this town (Woodland Park) looks like a great place that I could commute from and not be stuck in some of the carbon copy housing projects I've seen around CO Springs airport...

Nice place! Love the view...don't know if I'd get much work done looking out the window and thinking about being out there
-on the bike looking at scenery...
-in the Jeep climbing mountains...

And I do work on hyd. components fairly frequently on my aircraft - just need to work it so my last duty station is Ft Carson (Co. Springs) and start begging them for a job about a year out from my retirement - only got 6 years left.

Greg,

Do not sell yourself short, pick up the phone and call them. Just think on how many resumes they get they are looking for the guy who goes the extra step.

Remember everyone is a salesman you sell everyday and do not even know it.

If you want I know you have taked about it for a while now go for it.

Good luck,

John

I lived in the Springs whilst stationed at Fort Carson. My youngest daughter lives there now(Black Forest). I also want to be/work there as well--- good luck!

pretty place. Looks a bit cold for this tropical boy. But then currently I am cleaning swimming pools and fixing electronic chlorinaters as there is no archaeological work around. I imagine it would very pleasant for those that like the frozen rain stuff the people get in the winter in some places. Chase them up. Put a voice to a resume at the least it may get you to the "might have another look at him" pile.

My first choice has been Ft. Collins up till now, BUT after taking a gander around some places in Woodland Park, MAYBE it's a good tie!!! Yeah, a little off the beaten path, but not too far, and I can't imagine it wouldn't be HEAVEN taking Blue up on some of those small back roads during the summer!!! I am thinking about the whole calling thing, BUT on their job posting website, it does say in bold capital letters, NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE!!, sooo... I wonder if calling and wimpering like a lost puppy would violate this policy?
