There is nothing wrong with having 2 or more bikes in your stable. I plan on buying a KTM 690 SM in the Spring (pretty cool, fuel injected single cylinder, makes 63 HP and only weighs 332#, supermotard). But the Speedy will be my primary bike, they are simply amazing bikes, and very UNIQUE! Same with the KTM 690 (UNIQUE!). I could never own a Harley or a clone, because I don't want to be part of the herd, they are too common! I'm sorry every one has a big v-twin, I like to be different, I could never own a Harley because I would get lost in the crowd, I like to be different, always have, therefore I choose my bikes accordingly. I guess thats my way of saying, go your own way, hehe.
Triumph Scrambler Diablo Red & Silver (2014), Arrow Exhaust, FI remapped with TTP #4, 16 tooth sprocket, Triumph Gel Solo seat & Rack, Progressive 440 1" lowered Shocks, SAI & O2 Removal, Airbox Restrictor Plate removed.

I agree with Saxton BA\SM are not for everyone and that is a good thing. My BA is right for me when I see other bikes on the road I just seem to say (nothing special) cookie cutter bike.
Although a BMW R/T 1200 may be in my future I will never get rid of Big Poppy and Triumph may come out with that long range cruiser by the time I'm ready so we can keep it in the family.

"they're getting dated....."
They were "dated" when they first came out. That's why a lot of us "dated" people bought them. A reincarnation of the Bonnevilles a lot of us owned pre-wife, pre-kids, pre-mortgage, etc. And these Americas and Speedmasters have the same thing going for them. They're different from the mainstream. They have lineage that was lost for a while but is now resurrected - an English vertical twin. I still love my 2003 America. Sometimes I think about Rockets and Triples and Tigers, but it's just a passing fancy. Others act on those thoughts. Things change. It's just conversation. Enjoy what you like and ignore what you don't. Someday there may be 6 of us left, but we'll still get together for a ride somewhere, somehow.....
Sage advice.

I agree, I really like my Speedy.... my mech has ridden all my bikes to his workplace ( any excuse to ride! <BG> and has received more compliments on the Speedy than all of the other bikes combined. the SM is a great mid sized cruise, I'd like to take it on a nice summer cruise for a couple of months. My Harley is also comfortable, goes a little faster, the main advantage is that it doesn't blow around on the road so much when it's windy, it's about 650 lbs unloaded. I sold my Yamaha FJR 1300 sport tourer ( it's too big for me and I needed the cash) but I'd like to possibly get a Tiger or Sprint for long distance riding. The FJR iwas really comfortable and goes way faster than any reasonable person needs to, but oh well! <BG> I'd just like a smaller version of the FJR, and I think the Tiger comes closest.
I also have a Suzuki Bandit 1200, also a nice bike. But all of them are different for different types of riding. The Victory's are nice, too, yes, it's a clone, but they do give you a small tool kit. You can literally take the whole bike apart with it. But it does not ride the same as my Harley or the Triumph or the Bandit. Each bike has a unique feel to it. I'll keep the SM and my Deuce, even if I dont' get any other bikes. I always wanted a Norton Commando, tho...<BG> mary

I had a guy on a totally chromed out BEAUTIFUL wide glide share a parking spot with me (I saw him hunting and waved him over then moved mine to the side so there was room). He gawked for ten minutes at it saying what a awesome bike it was and how he bet I spent a ton on it. He was still there when i had to leave and go in. He had more $$$ in chrome than i do in the whole bike.
PRICELESS.
2002 Bandit 1200/ GSXR cams/ 1277 BB Kit/ Holeshot header and can/ 38mm flatslides/ a good head/lotsa hp/lotsa tq- lots of rear tires...

If dated design is an issue, get something with a modern design...
... like a V twin -- a design that dates to the early 1900s!
Didn't Triumph have a V-twin in the early days?????
Yup. But, some 5 years later when Harley copied it, they decided to drop it and start working on an upgrade to a vertical twin.
