He passed on Monday at 1:20 am after enduring a deviated aorta since 10 pm Friday night. He was 80 years old. He had a living will that forbade any life support so Sunday all medications were stopped. The medications were artificially keeping his blood pressure up. Without them his blood pressure dropped to nothing and he expired. His condition was deemed inoperable due to his advanced Parkinson's and dementia. The deviated aorta paralyzed him from the waist down, shut down his kidneys and gave him stroke-like symptoms. He was really struggling and trying to pull all his IV's and breathing tube out for most of Sunday. Only when the morphine drip was advanced to "elephant' did he finally rest. It took ten more hours for him to expire. The experience was unlike any ever conveyed to me or my family. It was an absolutely harrowing experience that I pray no one ever has to endure. On the plus side, my 78 year old Mom is now no longer responsible for taking care of my Dad like an infant. I hope she will pick up from where she was before my Dad's Parkinsons got so bad. If you're the praying type, throw some her way. And my wife's maternal grandmother is just now (as in just today) recovering from surgery to remove her cancerous vulva, so they can all use some prayers too.
thanks.
