Anybody got those hardbags advertised on NewBonneville? How do you like them? I'm trying to get the wife to buy me some for my birthday. I'm wondering if they are worth the price.

I had a pair on last bike. They where the exact same style but they where the leather version. In my opinion they are the best hard bags for the money. The hinges are plastic but the bags themselves are VERY well made.

good luck.

Powder coating requires object to be powdered be metal and withstand prolonged fast oven temperatures.

Moe's right. An electric current has to run through the items to be powder coated for the coating to stick. It's then baked in an oven. They do plastic now but I don't know the process or if it would work on fiberglass.

Those bags do look good. However, I recently purchased the BB Reproduction bags because the the ones from NewBonneville were backordered. I'm very happy with the fit and finish. Also, I put them on in about 20 minutes. No rewiring and blinker removal. For what it's worth...

You have to buy the mounts from BB Reproduction ($120ish). Just remove the last two fender strut bolts and mount with supplied longer ones. After that, slide the bags into place and use the cotter pins to secure.

If anyone is interested, plastic parts (fiberglass as well) have been being powdercoated for several years now. There are tons of powders available now, low temp stuff (200-250F) is widely available. the main problem with this is the gloss level is not that high though. The real high gloss stuff is only applicable to surfaces that can withstand the 350 or so degree temps.
Typically plastic pieces are powdercoated by either applying an electrostatic primer or they can be flame coated. The flame coating is becoming very common as pretty much anything can be powdercoated, plastic, wood, even cardboard, as long as it doesn't melt or burn under the initial application. Basically the powder is fed into the edge of a flame and applied in a melted state.... uh, like it's a powdercoatingflamethrowerkindathingy.

(no expert here, just that it's kind of an interest to me as I have been putting various coatings on various items for a good bit a years.... not the Holiday Inn Express thing if you were wondering)

I removed stock plate holder and use the rubber gasket as templet. Had a piece of 3/16 ss plate cut and drilled and mounted it useing the rubber gasket as a spacer.

Yes, they do indeed. They're the same price as the painted black bags.

does anyone have pics of the leather hardbags instaled on their bikes. Also is there up and down adjustability as to where you mount them. the picture here has them higher than I would like. I doubt if lowering them a couple of inches would creat any problems with the exhaust heat.

I removed Stock turn signals , going to find some cover caps. Also purchased the back rest/Rack combo to fit with my roadster seat. I'm going to leave the plate holder, the rack comes out to there anyway. The rack has thrown a little twist in the spacer thing as it is now a flat surface for the hardbag brackets,it had spacers to fit in the rear chrome fitment,so I'm good there,so far. How did you run your wiring for the rear LED's? Drill an additional (5th) hole in the side of each bag? Any input Midlifespeed would be fantastic! Thanks Speed.

Yes, I drilled the hole for the wire just under the rubber gasket by the front bracket.Ran the wires behind the fender strut and picked up the turn signal wires under the seat.I left the orignal wires in place. One more thing, put a two pin plug on the out side of the bag to make them easier to remove. Put so sealent around the wires their they come out of the bag and your done.

Yeah,I got the first one on drilled & permanent.(Tricky stuff)I didn't go by paint&mark.used a markall pencil, still used the tape as those threaded ends will scratch the ****** out of the paint, tomorrow I need to pickup 4 more neoprene washers for the outside as I didn't get any period. Then I will mirror the other side as persay. The only drawback and it's not too bad , when I open the bag lid it catches a little bit on the backside of the roadster seat, otherwise it looks pretty even (topside) with the rear fender. I'll keep ya posted,I may need to ask another Question. Thanks. Speed. P.S. I'm having a tough time finding those 2 -double female sockets,Been t Auto store,TSC,D&B Sales, where did you find yours? Maybe Home Depot or something?
