I thought I'd revive this since I finished another project...

We had a gap between the stationary half of a sliding door and the kitchen cabinets. Our garbage can lived there, but otherwise it was dead space, and space isn't something we can waste! So I figured a recycling center/beverage center/garbage bag center/whatever place was in order. I thought of a few things, but the simplest, most practical was just some adjustable shelves, but kind of like a cubby hole configuation. So here it is...

It's my first forray into the world of face frame construction, and I learned a lot! Not bad for workin out on the deck while being bombarded with acorns The little shelf just below the middle devider is actually tilted back a little. I use that for junk mail, which we can recycle. That way it doesn't spill out.

The shelves are 3/4" poplar ply I had leftover, with 1x4 poplar pocket hole screwed and glued to the front as edging and to make up the width. Worked out real nice. Also the first project with my new router Love it. Here's a link to the "in process" pics.

Go ahead, snub out your smoke on my new garage workbench top - I'll just polish it out, why of course it's Corian dahling! I scored a large l-shaped piece of corian counter top that I couldn't find a use for elsewhere. Cut it into two worktop size pieces and bolted them to my Sam's Gorilla shelves. Sure is easier to clean up than the old painted particle board.

Stainless would be nice, but it's very pricey. The Corian was free, I have a hard time passing up free.

Oh I'd definitely take free! Only way I'd go stainless is if I had some crazy deal on it.

Picked those up at the VMBC vintage meet earlier this month. $5 for those and $5 for another 4" set of z-bars. I also have a 6" set. All for my '66 chopper. The tall ones are bent, not sure I can salvage them, but I'm a sucker for cheap handlebars.
