I have a similar set-up to you, JCW shorties without a re-jet.
I consistently get 25-32mpg so I can only guess that you are alot more mellow with the throttle than I'm willing to be.
I normally go on reserve between 95-115 miles, that's filling up on the sidestand to the top of the filler neck.
