I ordered two filters from NewSpeedMaster, and I see they're KN-191's. I exchanged 6 filters today at Iron Pony, and got the ones listed on K&N's website (KN-204's.) Who's right on this?
TIA, Jim

the last one I bought for my 06 speedy was the KN-191 but this last spring went to get one from the dealer and he was pushing the Triumph one saying problems with the KN. Maybe the 204 is an improvement? just a guess.I am stopping there tomorrow and will ask,

I think the 204 is a little smaller. I think they both work.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Just go to the K&N Webste. The KN-191 application list appears to be for the for 800cc engine, KN-204 is for 900cc

You're absolutely right! I didn't go back far enough in years for a correct 800cc motor lookup. ******, now I'll need to send the 191's back to NewSpeedMaster.

Thanks again, Jim

If this K&N filter is an oil filter don’t get it check out Pure -one oil filter much better. I could tell the first time I changed the oil with pure one filter, it took 3 minutes to continue to fill the filter with oil, as the oil was absorbed by the filter medial. As one oil filter review stated about the K&N it's a below average filter with a nut attached. I ordered my filer on amazon.com. Have had no problems. http://calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterStudy.html

I really don't want to start an "oil filter debate" in this thread. I've used K&N's oil filters for some time over the years, and never had any problems. Thanks for the input though!
Take care, Jim

The KN-191 fits both 790cc and 865cc bikes. I'm not sure why K&N changed the info on the site, but we've been supplying the KN-191 for the 865cc bikes since the Thruxton came out in late 2003. The K&N site now lists the KN-204 as the one for the Thruxton, but for the last 3 1/2 years, the KN-191 was the part # listed.
Bottom line, the KN-191 works perfectly well on all of the new twins.

Indeed they do....and they have that nice little nut on the end that makes them so user friendly.

Thanks Brent! So I'd assume the 204's will work as well... at least I hope so. I just picked up 6 of them yesterday (exchanged some I had from my previous bike.)
Ride safe, Jim

Yes. From what I've seen, they are interchangeable.
