I've seen this type of email going around for the last 10 years. I've also seen it debated on motoring forums to the "n"th degree.
The outcome every time is that even if people did, it would make absolutely no difference, due to who supplies etc, and how a lot of companies are linked etc etc.
Now to me if I was say... Shell, and lets say, one of my employees decided to send this email out every 6 months saying how not to by from Esso or BP, well, lets just say I wouldn't stop him....
A majoroity of our petrol is Tax, again, tax has now gone up, the petrol price at the pumps goes up, and it has very little to do with the underlying price of petrol.
The best thing you can do is shop around and leave it at that. Regardless of the scares we had last year at Supermarket petrol, I've seen independant tests many times stating their juice is as good, if not BETTER in some cases than esso, bp etc.
Personally, as a consumer I make my choice to buy optimax for my bike, not because of the higher octane, but because of the detergents. Thats my choice, I pay more.
The government has, and always will, tax us in places and on items we deem nescessary for our everyday use. They will have you believe that it's a green tax and has nothing to do with the billions in revenue..... I'd support it if we had the billions ploughed back into providing a realistic cheap effective public transport system, but we don't, and we wont have.
So like most things, we have to bend over, drop our trousers and take it. Again, we have the choice to leave the country if we like too. For me, I'd rather stay here... for the time being, and as such, keep my trousers constantly around my ankles.
We live in a democracy, (although you'd find it hard to believe sometimes) If more of us used our vote, and governments came to the reaslisation that they work for US and not the other way around, we may get somewhere.
Vote with your vote, if politians lived in fear that if they pi44e3d of the general public too much, they'd be out, I think they'd think twice before half of the stuff. The problem is we still live in this insanee culture that people are viting for X because their dad did..... It's crazy.
Cheers,
