Just to warn that the EBC Prolite floating disc hasn’t proven to help solve warping, well not in my case anyway. I fitted it hoping it might be an answer to longstanding issues with the stock discs but it too has started to warp after only around 2000 miles. Granted it’s probably a nice upgrade but I wouldn’t recommend it to solve warping. It wasn't inexpensive, now think I’d have been better putting the cash toward fitting Speedmaster dual discs and wheels, that was the other plan. Do prefer the look of the spokes myself though...

My Speedy dual discs are about to be replaced......again. 19000k on the spedo. Plenty of others have the same problem. My Tech thinks its the discs themself. Something to do with the tempering. Suspects hard and soft spots.

Not really put any mileage on mine to speak of as yet, been riding that Honda tooooooo much. But now I have the 1/2 speedy front brake master cylinder I will change it and try and put some miles on if possible in this darn country with the weather.

Yeah, know it's quite a big problem. Don't know whether it's down to the discs though after trying a different manufacturer. Hear it might be linked to a problem with suspension on some bikes and more common with the America's spoked wheels than the Speedmasters. I don't know...

Be interesting to hear how it works out mate. My disc isn't too bad yet and passed MOT which was a bonus. Buys me some time until I decide what to do anyway.

I have to say you may have other issues. Pro Lite fixed my '02 America. Original was warped by 3-4000 miles. Since installing EBC rotor and pads, I've been 22000 miles with no more problems.

Rob is your front suspension standard and I would presume you are running the standard America wheels.

Interesting. Assuming this is the same EBC Floating Disc that I bought from Brent and put on my TBA with new EBC sintered pads, I didn't have any warpage after using it for more than 3400 miles, not knowing I had a brake lever that wouldn't return on it's own causing the pads to drag for at least 2/3rds of those miles, overheating the disc and turning it black. There's gotta be something else going on, like, perhaps, riding style? A significant portion of those miles included many hard stops on the freeways of California and congested traffic in a couple national parks.

Not sure what the cause is but don’t think it’s down to riding style. If anything I've been trying not to use the front brake heavily for fear of another warping. Saying that I often ride the country roads round here and it inevitably gets some hammer. Nothing I would have thought would cause problems though...

I dunno about whether I would get warping on a floating or not but I can assure you that it's nothing to do with riding style. I used the original 03 rotor when I upgraded the front end....I'm on the 3rd one on the 06 after 6300 miles....
Gina
03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel...
06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel...
09 America - It's very blue....

Yes, my frontend is stock except for tire and rotor/pads. And I ride harder than most folks on a cruiser. I love to put her through the esses as well as stretch her legs on the interstate, daily.
