Those horseless hybrid carrages are dangerous, they should be restricted to 5MPH and a man with a red flag and a whistle shoud proceed every one on the highway.

I'm beginning to love owning a hybrid and sneaking up on people in parking lots.

There may be a minor point here, but modern cars usually have very quiet engines. The thing all vehicles have-inlcuding hybrids-is tire noise which has risen considerable over the years with more aggressive treads. Tire noise is really higher that the other car noise.

Yeah! So the blind may not be able to hear these hybrid cars passing down the street as they walk across traffic, huh?!

Well, what I'd like to know is how these people get their drivers license? You know...all those cagers out there who say afterward, "I didn't see the motorcycle, officer!"

True enough at speed, at 5 mph I can tell you from experience you can't hear my Camry coming. It does mean I have to be extra vigilant in busy parking lots.

Yep! That's true, alright. The road that runs in front of my house in AZ has those expansion ruts caused by the snow and rain runoff (and all I hear is "kla-KLUNK, kla-KLUNK kla-KLUNK" all day) and fortunately it's currently under reconstruction, and the word is that they're going to put down that new and more quiet asphalt made with ground up tires. I sure hope that it works to help make the traffic noise a little less in volume.(ya see...I don't know any blind people)

Anybody here have any experience with this stuff in their neighborhood? And does it really help?

Didn't hear a hybred car while we were out camping, was really quiet and strange to see it roll by silently.... Slow enough that there was very little tire noise. Made me smile when I started up my thunderpipes......

I have a vw beetle turbo diesel. Great mileage,(45 mpg average) and the quiet is definitely NOT an issue.

Maybe I'll just get a CD of my Specialty Spares to play out the window while I'm running on the electric engine as I don't see pipes from the battery being very loud

Hi,
I am newly join in this site. This site is very useful to others. The New Cars are a supergroup formed in 2005 around members of the popular 1970s/1980s new wave band The Cars. The band is composed of Todd Rundgren, drummer Prairie Prince, original Cars members Greg Hawkes and Elliot Easton, as well as a rotating membership between bass players Kasim Sulton and Atom Ellis. The band performs The Cars' classic songs, Rundgren's solo work, and some new material.Rundgren has referred to the project as "an opportunity ... for me to pay my bills, play to a larger audience, work with musicians I know and like, and ideally have some fun for a year." Ocasek, who has opted out of any possibilities of a reunion, gave his blessing to Easton and Hawkes, saying, "I want Elliot and Greg to be happy." On April 17, 2006, he appeared on The Colbert Report and was asked if there was anyone he wanted to put "on notice" (a recurring segment on the show). He answered "Todd Rundgren".For more information to visit the link.
