The gas tank's center tunnel is HUGE. If you can find a new place for the electrical bits, perhaps under the seat or behind the steering head, and cut off the mounting stubs on the spine, maybe you can gain the gallon by making the center tunnel snuggly on the spine. The outside dimensions of the tank would remain stock. You'll have to create some traditional mounting tabs underneath due to losing those mounting stubs on the spine.
