Hey guys I was on the Triumph website and it shows the new thruxton as having 69hp. Anyone know what they are doing to get this kind of power?

They came over to my house, made an exact copy of my engine (for which I was well compensated) and they installed it in the new thruxton...
no real secret

They are measuring the hp at the crank...not the rear wheel.

Barend mirrors are reported to give +20% BHP (hmm... RHP ).

Well, at least in Texas the rumours says.

Tom, looks like they really don't like your post. I am sorry for that.

The 360 motor and the cams make more power than our bikes. Generally the cams, valve and head configuration (compression), makes the power.

Even at crank rating 69HP its shamelessly slow. The 650 Ninja makes more horses than that with 75% the displacement. For an undisclosed reason Triumph has decided the classic line can't have any speed engineered into them. It is very doable but Triumph saves its engineering for the 675 and ST line.

Honda made 57HP with its 500t at only 60% the displacement of the Thruxton.

BMW here simply spanks it with HP and torque.
