I haven't seen but one Triumph so far on my trip to Europe. 4 days in Germany: Frankfurt and Heidelberg. 3 days in France: Strasbourg and Paris. Seen a bazillion scooters! Over here the scooters are definitely function over form. Some of the largest windshields I've ever seen on a bike. Lane splitting is a given. Scooters never end up behind cars at a red light, they always zip around the cars and take off like a bat out of h*ll when the light turns green. Surely I'll see Triumphs when I go to London in a couple of days. Get a load of this BMW. -----Bob

The BMW C1 was never a good seller in the UK, though you're more likely to see them in London than anywhere else. Basically they were crap and you look stupid riding them - you've only got to look at the pillion seat on that dog! You'd look like you were humping it riding on the back of that. The only bike I know with an 'X' seat belt / harness thingy!! Scooters are major transport in European cities (London too). There are bikes but not many, twist-and-go scooters are faster than pretty much anything when it comes to the traffic light grand prix!! I recently saw some 'proper' bikes while in Rome, Ducati (natch) and a few Triumphs but scooters rule the roost. The bikes you're more likely to see in London will be be psycho dispatch riders and yes, lane splitting IS a given - Euro side of the Atlantic anyway

Ray;
First time over. Had business in Germany last week. My wife came with me and we made a vacation out of it. Here in Paris here until Wednesday. Taking the train to London on Wed pm, there for Thu, Fri and Sat. Going back home to Denver on Sunday. Back to reality next Monday.

When I was in London a few years back I dont remember seeing any Triumphs the whole trip...of course im sure most people wouldent bring them into the pub with them anyways... but I still found it rather odd.

HOLY CRAP!!!! That's one hellova screen! I also like the rider's ejector seat! The box on the back aint too small either - I wonder if that's to carry the bricks it needs to counter-balance to stop the bike toppling over forwards

It's nearly as big as the Peugeot next to it. I like to see continental parking - that car hasn't exactly left the bike much room, has it? Or .. has the bike backed into the space and climbed over the bonnet (see dents) to get off?

I knew if I looked hard enough, I would see a Triumph in Paris. Don't know the model or year, but not bad looking. -----Bob

Hey Bob! Are you sure you didn't do a variation of "Wrongway Corrigan" here, and that you didn't really end up in CALIFORNIA "by mistake" where this sort'a thing isn't frowned upon at all either???
(BTW...hope you're havin' a great trip over there!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I'm not sure that I could afford the cost trade to that model. Besides, looks like high maintenance...but then, I guess I could tinker around with it in the garage.
