It's that time again. I'll be leaving Friday morning from central Va. for the annual bike trip to the ARCA, Craftsman Trucks and Nextel Cup races at Talladega. Honk if you see a heavily laden America with Mulberry Red British flag tank traveling south on I-81 I-40, I-75, I-24, I-59 or AL 77. If anyone gets the chance to come to 'Dega this week you won't regret it. Some media folks said today that the first race at Talladega for the COT (Car of Tomorrow) with the larger restrictor plate could easily be the race of the decade.

Stop in the museum at I-59 exit 218 and say howdy when you get to Alabama. I ran three laps at Talladega this August as part of a March of Dimes fundraiser and it was a blast, those turns are really steep (too bad they didn't let us WOT).

Talladega is one of the coolest tracks on the NASCAR circuit. Enjoy the race!

The Barber motorsports park / museum off of exit 140 (Leeds) is a worthwhile stop as well, costs $10, takes a couple hours to go through, but well worth it....

What town/city is that exit near oldroadie? What kind of museum is it and who should I ask for if I get a chance to stop Friday on my way down?

About 24 miles past the state line in Fort Payne. Get off at 218 and turn left, go about a mile, I'm on the left next door to Fort Payne Powersports (local Yamaha dealer) at the Alabama Museum. Ask the gals up front to trot out the bike owner, the Bonnie will be parked out front (unless my new front tire is in and on the America).
