I bought one of these from fast Eddy and put it on last night and took my first ride this morning comuting to work.
I wish at this point I had bought a shield much earlier. My long trip earlier in Summer would have proved more comfortable especially in the late stages of each day.
At highway speeds with no screen your face, neck and head effectively get beaten up big time. After about seven hours of hard riding your neck begins to feel the fatigue of the constant buffeting.
The Alley Cat effectively nullifies buffeting of the upper body and face. I am six feet two with long legs and I ride sans helmet so I do not note any extensive buffeting of the top of my head. Maybe just a little bit at the very crown of the head.
Having read Fast Eddies review of Memphis shades I have to concur that adding the lowers will help greatly with any shield.
I did find per his assessment that if I place my gloved hand down just in front of the tank and behind the fork it reduces the volume of air onrushing from there up to the area of the face. Based on my ride this morning I intend to go ahead and get some lowers. This will further reduce the remaining air flow around the face and eyes.
The Alley cat is a nice looking addition to the Speedmaster. Its onobtrusive as a sportshield and is effective in its purpose.

Kev, nice write-up. I'm also 6'2" and have the Alley Cat on the Kingpin. Very good quality screen and highly functional without making you look like you're auditioning for CHIPs.

Good point. Some of the larger screens DO make you look a bit like a Chips retread.
My Thursday night ride home from dancing and the shield allowed me to wear nothing but my prescription eyeglasses at speed with zero tearing up or fear that they might be ripped from my face. It is somewhat pleasant to not have your face and neck being constantly distorted by the breeze.
I think this will spoil me.

I bought one from Eddy as well and love it. If you get the lowers, I recommend buying the upper fork mounts instead of the standard lower ones. I've tried both and the uppers make a bigger difference.
Remember; no matter where you go, there you are.

Anybody know if the lowers from Eddy will work in combination with the Triumph Roadster screen?

So with the upper fork hardware they simply mount just below the two brackets for the windscreen itself huh? I have the two windscreen brackets mounted alomst all the way up on the forks.....even so must be a tight fit?

Great review. The Fast Eddy website says the Alley Cat will not work on the '07 Speedmaster or America. Is there anyone here who used the Alley Cat or another Memphis Shade product on the '07s? Thanks.

If you check Fast Eddies site...look at the Handlebar mount shields. If you check with Eddy he will be more than happy to answer your questions about the 07 models and Memphis Shades

Pretty straightforward and easy, even for us non-wrenchers.

Alley Cat is a quick release windshield: about 30 seconds if you relax and do it slowly.

I got my lowers from Eddie on Thursday with the top fork mount option and have them both installed high up and just below the bottom of the Alley Cat.
They do make a big difference in reducing turbulence that results from airflow that would otherwise circulate from the forks up over the gas tank and into your upper body and face. At slab speeds there is now just a very minimal flow of air around the upper body and head. I dont smoke but if I did I think I could put a pack in a front pocket with a zippo and light and smoke a cig with no problems while doing highway speed. (I am not recommending this)
I really think the lowers are needed for those of us who utilize the shields

Hey Guys, since there are new guys here asking I'll respond. As of right now the only option for the Memphis Shades products for 2007+ is a handlebar mount because of the tapered upper tube.
There are screens for other bikes with tapered tubes but they are proprietary due to head light configuration and other factors specific to models.
I did some shopping around different bikes stores trying to find a close comparison and it was near impossible for the moment. What UI need to do is find a Metric bike guy who wants one and will let me size it up next to a 07+ so I can see if they will come close, then maybe we can locate a match. The only reason Memphis Shades knows what ones fit pre 07 bikes is because of us!
