Frank, I bought the regular sized lowers, and tried them at all sorts of angles and tilt. They seemed to cut the tank air buffeting by about 70% - that's with a light bar and a medium Clearview screen. The tank air buffeting still coming through was tough to deal with after a few hours. Extending the lowers closed off the space behind the light bar, and the tank air was gone.
You're right though, depending on screen setup and body size, the regular ones probably work for most.
