I've tried to use the search function but it doesn't seem to give me what I'm looking for.
Basically, I've looked at the Haynes manual to balance carbs. I've borrowed a mercury tuner, but not sure how to proceed. I know to put the mercury tuner on the vacuum ports, and set the idle to 1500, but do I turn the pilot screws with the D tool I have for the carbs, or am I adjusting just some single screw between the carbs. I've recently experienced some increased vibs and my mileage is dropping so I think it's time for a balance. Thanks in advance.

Its the small screw between the carbies. Dont turn too much as a litle makes a big change. Most remove the tank to get to it.

Removing the tank isn't necessary, just get a good small offset screw driver.

I just balanced last night and happened to snap a pic of a couple of "tank on" balancing tools.

The first is a pair of german-made slipjoint pliers from Sears.
For some reason, their shape and size makes them handy for all kinds of stuff.

The second is a Milwaukee brand angle driver on a socket & handle.
There are other brands out there too.
They're all priced around $20.

I have a question on this topic too.
What's the size/pitch of the balance screw?
Hex or socket head might be nice there.
It looks like M4-.7, but I thinks it's a finer thread.
I tried a screw that was M4-.7 (I think), & it went in about 3/4 turn & stopped.

thanks gents, I did it today. The Dinqua site was perfection. I didn'take the seat or tank off after finding
that offset screwdriver. I did notice the vibs less noticeable.
