I have 2 rear and 1 front of those Invaders. The front I have is the 6 spoke. Always liked those but they tended to crack. Cool bikes, both of them.

Very nicely done.

"It's not for sale,Frances" Pee Wee Herman from Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
Actually ,that bike sold a number of years ago. I typicaly build a bike each year,in my spare time, show it during the summer while riding it and working out any bugs, then sell off to fund the next project. That was a great bike, surprisingly comfortable even on long rides. But alas I can't keep them all. I wish I had kept the other bike;It was my brother's. That picture was taken the year before his death.
Thanks,Paul

...yes, that is a single seat...no, I will not put the other seat on...yes, I am selfish...yes, you should buy your own bike

I miss the kick start, you could always tell who knew how to tune their bike. Those bikes properly tuned always start with one easy kick.

I remember you guys had your choppers on that Hooters run we made when I first met you! Not sure if it was those two tho... It would have been summer of '02.

Boy, those look great. How'd you get those Invader wheels to work? (what kind of rear hub?)

The rear invader on the copper bike is a triumph flange. Both fronts were 4 bolt setups which required opening up the T-140 rotor holes slightly. The rear on the black bike was a total pain in the butt, but perserverence did pay off. Of course after I finished the bike I did find another correct Triumph Invader. It's been some time now but I believe sportster(8 Hole pattern) will work with Triumph.
Thanks everyone for all the interest.
Paul

My '66 hardtail came with a nice, round-spoke Sporty Invader. But I was unhappy to discover there is no way to adjust the backing plate for free-play, so the previous owner just cranked down the axle nuts and the chain adjusters. I don't know how far he rode this way, it was an inner-Philly city bike but it wouldn't have lasted long. Plus they bent one leg of the hardtail to accomodate the wider wheel set up. I discovered this after buying a nice brake hub and sealed bearing setup. My buddy had a wire wheel I'm going to run instead and we're putting the Invader on his son's ironhead (the wheel came off another sons bike...) Too bad, I love the look of an Invader.

The bad side:

One of these wheels came with a piece of threaded rod and washers fastening it to some Japanese fork set-up. I love that stuff,it helps me talk the seller down when I can point out certain death items.

The guy who is helping me has that kind of knowledge, but sadly not me...yet! I've learned a lot so far, knowing virtually nothing about vintage Trumps previously. Wish my knowledge would have came without a cash expenditure but I guess that's generally not the way it works.
