Could it be.......??? It sure looks like a '67 Bonnie to me! (the year just before the boys at Meriden finally got around to (right here ^) putting a decent twin-leading shoe brake up front so you could actually stop the thing!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Would't it be nice to be wealthy and jet down to Orlando and scoop up a few of those vintage Triumphs to add to your collection. Maybe Jay Leno will be there.

Yep! Leno just might show up down there, Paul.
Re "wouldn't it be nice"....YEP! It sure would! But anything that "The Cooler King" owned is WAY out o' my price range too.
Speakin' o' which....You wouldn't happen to know what that Ferrari Lusso o' his got at the Pebble Beach Auction last month, would ya?!
I was guessin' somewhere around $1.5 Mil.

That's true, Dwight, I couldn't afford his baseball glove from the "Great Escape" let alone the bike. I don't know about the Ferrari. Sometimes Automobile Magazine will have reports of what the auctioned off cars go for. What's your guess on the bike, anyone? 100 grand?

It sure looks like the same bike pictured first above with McQueen riding it along the streets, Rev, but apparently somewhere along the line somebody must have installed an updated TLS brake up front on it, which was/is a common upgrade for pre-1968 Bonnies, ya know.

Strange, per the linked article ...... "Steve McQueen’s 1967 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle, with certificate of authenticity, ridden by the late actor in the movie “The Great Escape,†..... The Great Escape came out in 1963. An exceptional bike indeed, capable of time travel!

sent the Auction house this....
Dear Sir/Maddam,
Caught an article on Roadracing World.com with the Press release regarding The Motorsports Museum of Orlando, had this in it... "Steve McQueen’s 1967 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle, with certificate of authenticity, ridden by the late actor in the movie “The Great Escape,â€Â... I would be less interested in the bike, but am VERY interested in the time machine that made it possible for a 1967 Triumph be used in a movie released in 1963...yet it's in none of your auction previews...do you intend to keep the technology a secret? If you do not intend to sell it could I possibly least/rent it for a brief second? I need to see my stock broker in 1973. Money is no object, I will pay any price you ask, I think upon my return I will be wealthy enough pay your named price AND to out bid everyone on that rare, time traveling Triumph.
Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!

Rob, I'm sorry to report to you that a certain scientist by the name of Mr. Peabody(who looks suspiciously like a cocker spaniel, BTW) has apparently perfected and according to rumor has patented this time travel machine to which you have referred in your above response. His assistant Sherman, a young and somewhat naive individual, has accompanied Mr.Peabody in the past, TO the past(ironically), and their adventures have been recounted in a television program of wide acclaim. And thus unfortunately, in the vein of those poor luckless fellows who were beaten to the patent office my the likes of men such as Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Alva Edison and Philo T. Farnsworth(for the uninitiated, he patented the first TV), I believe this might fall into the category of being a little too late on your part to be able to capitalize on this great new invention. BTW...I don't understand how a '67 Bonnie could be present (even OFF-SCREEN!!!) during the filming of a movie released in 1963 EITHER!!!

Yes, they're factory originals.

Isn't it this bike with the megaphones replaced by pea shooters? And, not the '62 T110 Tiger from movie at all...
