I have seen pictures around this site, of bikes with a chrome molding strip around the tank flange and fenders. What are folks using for this applications. Thanks All.

It's door edge guard available at most auto parts stores. It is a chrome plated plastic that you can cut to length.

Yes but you can get longer lengths at the auto parts store so you could do the whole rear fender for example ,in 1 piece

I might point out that there are two kinds of chrome edge molding. Check out the box, there is the flat kind which is meant to bond to a totally flat surface, and there is the type which physically wraps around ( U-shaped) a thin edge, like a tank seam and a windshield or fender.

Good point. If you want to do this, you want the 'U' shaped version. If I remember correctly, it cost me $8.95 for 25' at Pep Boys about 3 years ago. The only place I had trouble with was at the rear and front of the tank where the bends are more radical.
Three things I will do when I get around to re-doing this. One, clean the crap out of all edges. I thought I did a good job on this (see above). Two, get one of those wallpaper seam rollers. The glue in the bottom of the 'U' is pressure activated and one of these tools or something similar, would really get it on good. I took me a bit last time to make it look good. Three, I'd blue tape the fronts and backs until the glue set up good. Neither end is noticable to anyone but me but hey:
Any job, big or small, do it right or not at all.

Often overlooked, and not very visible unless close-up, but the black u-shaped door edge moldings make an excellent accent strip to run around the bottom edge of our dash consoles. One door edge strip easily does it - just trim the ends. Separates the chrome console from the painted tank, and looks quiet natural doing it. Inexpensive, easy mod that might also prevent some tank (or console) scratching when removing/reinstalling the console. Gives it some cushion. Dresses well with a wipe of silicone, too. They come four to a pack, so share with a buddy.

Autoparts store... Cheap easy mod. Follow Phil's suggestions. The ends of mine don't like to stay on. Luckily the seat covers it.

If you go to Pep Boys they have two different types in chrome. One is for cars and the other is for trucks. Get the one for trucks, it a bit wider and covers the whole seam. They come two in a pack for around $6-7. Each strip is more then enough to do one side of the tank. The only thing you need do is clean the bottom edge of the tank with some rubbing alcohol and a rag. Then use a hair dryer to warm and soften the strip and it will wrap right around any curve. Just apply the heat slowly. Depending on the hair dryer you use you may need to set it on low. Do not use a heat gun unless your use to using one. They get too hot and will melt the plastic.
