Who can give me some good suggestions.... needs to be something that works well, and is easy to totally disengage. I don't want to have to turn the throttle OFF all the time.
I need to be able to let go the throttle at speed and let my arm relax occasionally without losing speed...but I won't use it all the time. I had one on my old Suz Katana that was kinda like a clamp, thumb on thumb off, and when it wasnt' on, it didn't interfer with the normal throttle operation.
Thanks ALL - this is a GREAT place!!!
Becky

I have heard about putting a large O ring between the switch housing and throttle grip to make it stay where you leave it. Very cheap and would probably work well. I don't use anything. I also know there are several other choices.

A Vista Universal Throttle lock will work if you're willing to drill a small hole into what the Triumph manual calls the master cylinder mounting clamp.(The drilled hole need not extend into the handle bar.) A self tapping screw will mount the arm. An example of what the device looks like http://www.gunsmoke.com/motorcycling/r1200gs/cruise_control/index.htmlIf you need further info, I'll get some pictures together to show how it works on a Triumph grip. Very handy to have.

I'm an O-ring fan. I can also confirm the o-ring cruise works with the Kuryakyn grips, wasn't certain about that on a post months back. You can place the o-ring as far in or out of the gap to either hold the throttle dead solid (but easily defeated) or so it just started to slip if you let off. I also have the Kury Throttle-Boss and the combo is brilliant!

I use a Throttle rocker. It is just a piece of plastic that attaches to the grip and like the Throttle boss it puts the pressure on you palm and gives your fingers and hand a break. Throttlerocker.com for some pics. It's only $11 plus $1 shipping. I always thought the rubber washer stuck in the throttle could be dangerous in case on an emergency stop.

Becky,
I have the Iso Grips and use their version of a throttle rocker...I also use the Vista universal throttle lock, I modified the vista by using a longer spacer and bolt, so I would be able to use the handlebar clamp provided without drilling my control housing...its a two piece clamp (1/2 circles to go around the bar) I had to trim one side of the clamp to clear the front break reservoir so only 1 bolt is actually "clamping" onto the bar...but it still holds tight enough to lock the throttle...it works well and can be removed with no permanent marks or holes as "evidence" it was there.

I use the Break-away throttle lock. It is the expensive choice at $199.00. It works great though, easy to appy and release, either with a slight pull of the break lever, or a thumb release. You can increase and or decrease the throttle with the lock engaged without little effort The installation wasn't hard, although the instructions weren't the best. Here's there website Wendell

I use a throttle boss too but you have to keep minimal pressure on that. Mine is actually a Throttle Rocker and love it. It does in fact ROCK! Mine is help on with a velcro strap , very secure and easily removed. Also paid $7 for mine but they normally go for about $11.

Knew that was coming, luckily saved the info: It is exactly 1.5" (OD measured) and 1/8" thick.

Whew, knew it was out there. Did you find those via search? I swear that I can never get the search to yield any results.

I knew I had posted to those Al so I searched for O-ring, my username, and 404 for the months.

Interesting, Al Here's my criteria again: Forums - 'All Forums' highlighted Keyword - o-ring in subject and body radio button checked Username - bonnyusa Max date range - 404 Result format - 25 (I hardly ever change this unless I expect a huge hit) Got 26 results and the thread '"O" ring cruise control' in Accessories is what led me to the other... btw, I tried doing a Search video today and I screwed up and was interrupted so many times, I gave up! I will have to try it again this weekend...

Hey Becky, I installed a "Throttlemeister" on my 07 and it works well. You simply turn the knob on the end of the handlebar to pinch the handgrip. I can also throttle back without releasing the lock. I use my all the time and wouldn't be without it. It was a bit pricey ($100) but considering this is the second bike it has been on I figure it was worth it.

Hi Becky, I bought the Vista. Had to make an L-bracket to mount it but it works beautifully! I'll try to take a picture this Sunday and post it but it will have to wait, I'll be at the air races Saturday. I mounted the bracket with double stick tape until I build something better. You'll love the Vista if you can get it mounted properly. The hardware they provide with the "universal" mount doesn't fit our bikes.

Here's a photo. I plan to create a better looking bracket but this work fine. It's just a piece of aluminum L-bracket notched to fit around the Triumph switch blank and drilled to hold the thumb latch in place. The Vista universal kit came with 2 sizes of handlebar inserts.

There's no easy way to use the clamp so that's why I made the bracket. The lock ring fits over the hand grips so I don't think it would matter which size you get. Stock bars are 1" so get the 1" size and you can use the clamp to mount your GPS or something else.

i customized my rubber washer by adding a zip tie, cutting off the long tail, leaving a nub that can easily be grabbed to disengage the washer.

I looped a fabric zipper tie around mine. Lost one in the deeper Kuryakyn grip, had to cut it out..

I'v been using the washer deal with the kurycrackhead grips for a couple of years. Works well and is about as cheap as you can get. As to being a danger...About the only way I see it could be a problem would be if you blacked out. And then the throttle would indeed be locked at speed. But I would think...that would be the least of your problems in that case....

Bill - I was looking at several websites for the Vista universal - they say it won't work with the iso-grips, which I have....they are metal and rubber, so maybe won't clamp down. Now I guess I gotta look for another solution.... Becky
PS - gonna be in SD Oct 18 - 22nd. Check the Rides forum for my posting. Thanks!

Wendell - Which one did you order? I was checking out the website and they say this will work with the Kuryaken Iso-grips, which I have..... but they don't have a specific model listed for our bike... This is what I found....will it work? Cruisers: Metric / Victory HONDA • KAWASAKI • SUZUKI • VICTORY • YAMAHA The 5CP02 now also fits the popular Küryakyn Iso Grip.
THANKS!!!!!!
