I was caught up in the Harley Hype in high school, but Dad always had a thing for British bikes. He ended up buying a 1970 Royal Enfield Interceptor, one nice looking, fast bike.
That's what I learned to ride on. But the tweeking, tickling and kicking got a little old on the old knees, so he sold it off to England to buy a used '03 Caspian Blue America. Easy starting, easy handling, sweet looking ride. I have since sworn off Harleys
Enjoyed every minute on that bike, rain, wind, or sun. Girlfriend had her first ride on the America.
But... !! Hit some gravel on a curve here in June, smacked the guard rail, totalled the front end.
So we sold it off for parts, now Dad has an '04 Speedmaster, and I bought a '98 Speed Triple. Best of both worlds, and we can ride together now. Now, if I can just get Karen to ride again...
