How many out there like Moxie soda?

The rights to Moxie brand and formula were recently acquired by a Coco-cola bottling company in New Hampshire.

We brought some Moxie with us out to Washington State, one of our friends out there came up with the perfect way to describe the "taste". Its like chloraseptic+ pepsi.

To riding our bicycles over to the fire station after summer softball practice for Moxies from the soda machine.
Yum.

Moxie, now that's an acquired taste!! Never could stand it as a kid, my dad used to drink it. 40+ years later a friend is drinking a Moxie at work, to my surprise, I didn't know it still existed. He let me try a taste for old time sake....wow! flashback to my yout.Yuck! it still tastes like s... My apologies to all the Moxie lovers out there.

Thank You Phil this made my Day.

Moxie has also grown in popularity in recent years in regions of southern Maine, due to its outstanding mixability with certain spirits. Notable Moxie mixed drinks include the “Welfare Mom”, which consists of equal parts Diet Moxie and Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy and the “County Girl”, a drink made up of one part bourbon whiskey and two parts Moxie on the rocks, with an optional lime garnish.

Phil,
That's funny, I'm really not a Moxie drinker but my dad was and he had 6 kids.

Most soft drinks that have been around for a long time have stories like that.

Corn Flakes were created to keep you regular and clean your colon.

Nothing compared to Graham crackers
from wiki
The Graham diet was invented around 1829 by Sylvester Graham, a self proclaimed "Physiological Reformer". It was based mainly on fresh fruits and vegetables, whole wheat and high fiber, and excluded meat and spices altogether (see vegetarianism). Very fresh milk, cheese, and eggs were permitted in moderation, and butter was to be used "very sparingly" [1].

Graham believed that adhering to the diet would prevent people from having impure thoughts and in turn would stop masturbation (thought by Graham to be a catalyst for blindness) among other things. He was a prolific writer and speaker for his cause, which was sternly opposed to "bad habits" of the body and mind. During the 1830s, the diet had a moderate response from the mostly puritanical faction of the American public, so much so that at one point it was strictly implemented on students of Oberlin College by David Campbell (a disciple of Graham's). During the period in which it was enforced, some rebellious students took it upon themselves to eat off-campus, and at one point a professor was fired for refusing to stop bringing his own pepper for use with his meals. The diet was eventually renounced by the college in 1841 following a public outcry.

When I was a kid in Boston, Moxie hired Ted Williams to promote it. Didn't help...still tasted awful.
Fast forward to 1977 with my California born wife on her first trip to Maine. Stopped in a General Store and I saw a can of Moxie in the cooler. Great idea, I'll extol the wonders of it to my (Moxie) innocent bride and convince her to try it.
Lots of Mainers in the store start keying in to the situation. She tries it, makes a disgusted face and accuses me of taking advantage of her trust.
Mainers now totally cracked up laughing. Ayuh.

Naw! Not really, JB!

Go ahead! Try it!

Just rub one little corn flake right here---> ;

Oh sorry! That was my semi-colon! Wait a minute.

Okay now...HERE---> :

OHHHH!!! Now THAT felt GOOD! AND...look how clean it is TOO!!!

SEE???!!! Not "scratchy" at all!!! 'cept maybe for a few of those new scratches on your computer screen now.

(BTW....THAT is the ONLY colon o' mine you'll ever get close to with a friggin' corn flake, or ANYTHING ELSE, ol' buddy!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I love Moxie, but we can't get it here in Pa. Our local dist. only gets a shipment about once a year.
