OK... I like the dark side. I am very jealous of my Harley friends and their loud pipes... I want them also... I run TORs which are nice but I want a louder poppier sound. I do not want to loose performance either... dont think I will  anyway...I am opening this thread up for debate on which pipes compare to harley sounds the most... Looks like Dinqua likes ThunderBike while others like Bub, They say they are out of them, Epco, Spec. Spares..... Would love you opinions...

I run the ThunderBike pipes. Loud when I need them to be and great performance.

Yeah... I like the sound of the triumphs but just want more presence. I joke with my friends that Ihave to start my bike first other wise I wont know if its running So I guess I am not REALLY looking for Harley Like but Harley Loud  Erwin... I would like meet up and buy you a cup of coffee to talk about the bikes sometime... I see you are in NJ also. I am in Harrison so if your close....

There are a ton of "generic" pipes out there that will be plenty loud. Anything that is 1 3/4" will do. My fishtails were too loud when I got them. I had to install an extra baffle in them.
But, for pipes made just for our bikes, the Scepters and the Thunderbikes are both very nice pipes.

I like gutted stock pipes with the crossover removed. Wendy and I both run that set up.

with a freeze out plug from Napa. I cut mine and welded a plug in place as a cap but other guys have just tapped a plug inside.

Specialty Spares long cannons (of course I am partial here)...loud, look great and good price. I definately turn heads upon start up and can make the phone jump out of a drivers hands

If you want loud AND performance go Bubs. Thunderbikes are a little less loud but they deliver on the performance end. I've had both and both improved my gas mileage too. I got tired of the noise and went back to stock. Lots quieter, lots slower too...

I've had epco's on for 4 years. While their nice and all, I am debating re-installing the stock pipes with a baffle or two drilled out. A little less bark, while passing a carfull of Nuns or climbing a long hill Last Saturday I rode with a tiger, sprint, t-100 and a t-bird. I mentioned that my pipes are sometimes loud, the sprint guy replied "d'ya think" (he was cracking a joke)  jh

 Loudest and most like a harley sound I've found (and cheap too). Lookin to get some chrome mandrel bent ones over the winter. My Father-in-law says they're too loud and he rides a screamin'eagle!  Check out my photopost for other pics.

Here we go.  I love the JCWhitney 16" shorties. They're $33 each, very light, and have a nice deep sound.
The Sceptres I've heard seem to be higher pitched.
I'm still using the stock crossover pipe too.

I know there is some minimum length under which you can get warped valves but I have no idea what it is.

Can you hear biker's (Ed's) bike now?
He has the loudest bike I have heard. And I heard all the pipes, his is freakin loud. JC Whitney shorties I believe.

Yup I got pulled over when I was running TORs. I think the cop was just in a bad mood. Talked my way out of it though.

I have Staintunes on my BA, with the restrictors removed, they sound fantastic (imo) and seem to give a good performance boost - I'm getting the bike dyno'd this weekend and will post back here with the results.

I have staintunes also now. I like them for the most part. Good sound when you start up. But a little quiet for my tastes.

Aren't those Trumpet Mufflers really loud? I mean louder than any of the other aftermarkets? Geez, at the price they are offering ($99US), they would be a great purchase but maybe not if they are too loud. So is there a sound byte out there which we can hear and therefore determine if the trumpets are worth paying the big bucks for

They use to be louder. I added the exra baffle after that Idaho Invasion trip.
BTW... it was funny, BT got home before I did and posted that pic, so my son saw it before I did.

Ive got fishtails with Khromewerks baffles in them. I've also had the JC Whitney pipes, gutted stockers, and D&Ds. The JCW's and fishtails are the loudest with the D&D's comming in close behind them. The fishtails are as loud as the JCW's, maybe louder, with a "crack" at the end of the note. My favorite "tone" was the gutted stockers.
I have a decimeter at work so I jacked around with it for a bit. The meter was 1' back and 2' up from the rear tire. At idle they are 80db. Racking the rpm up to 6k and back down (kinda a vroom-vroom, not a steady hold) peaked at 122db. Thats pretty darn loud...

+1 on the SS pipes. Pull the baffles (one screw) and I don't think you'll find anything louder than a long, empty pipe. Rode mine for an evening without baffles and the neighbors started a petition... Quote:

There are several choices louder than SS. Couple shorties out there are louder , fishtails tend to be hurt you loud, gutted stock I have heard are louder than Sceptres I have heard. Gutted stock I believe give the best sound. But not everyone likes the same sound. Brokenfixed has some loud pipes on his bike.

A little quiet?? I took my SM with staintunes(no baffles) up for the paper Sunday morning, a 2km trip.....my missus said she heard me leave the shop.....and heard it all the way home...

Well the Dyno day was fun, my BA did 57.4hp with only the Staintunes and top snorkel removed and, as expected, it's running lean right through the midrange. I'm off to my mechanic with the Dyno chart next week to have him rejet the carbies then I'll Dyno it again.

I love my J.C. whitney long pipes... Loud as h-- at a reasonable price ($47.00 ea.) if I remember and no rust yet after heving them installed for over 1 1/2 years. Just don't turn them down as they will resonate and flat drive you up a wall. The ends of mine are turned out to the side, no resonating now.... And yes, they somewhat sound like a Harley sad to say....

I've got Sceptres... my bud has TBikes on his America... to the best of my recollection his Tbikes are not that much louder, if at all, than my old TOR SS (never had the chance to a-b them). I ride with a bunch of HD's (1200 Skirtsters w/ straight pipes, night trians, street glides etc...) all pretty stoopid loud, to the point of pain & my other bud has an '03 Indian Scout... not sure the pipes but he's ****** loud too. Now in comparison all the HD's & the Indian are still louder then me & the Sceptres but my buddy on the america w/ the TBike pipes is virtually inaudible next to me.... The HD boys can over power me with the db's but that's fine... I don't need to be the loudest SOB on the road. I'm loud enough to get noticed, sounds good, good perfomance & if I try really hard I can get thru a residentail neighborhood fairly quietly at 4am... if I try really hard... but maybe I'm just deaf & think I'm being quiet....  anicodte.... Just the other day I hooked up w/ my best friend (the guy with the night train)... he had been stuck in his cage all day for work & we were goin somewhere else to meet more people...  me being the wonderful friend I am offered my SM so he could get a little wind in the face... besides he's wanted to give the trumpet a whirl since I got it. I can only imagine I felt close to what a proud parent feels when ther kids do well at a talent show or something like that... as I've always felt a tad inadiquate with the HD crew mainly do to the voume... Often have I heard the, "Is that thing runnin" jabs... but when he opened her up & took off... I welled up a bit as I could hear my bike from about 1/2 mile away... I could tell he was havin fun!

forum member Strick has these custom two into one one piece pipes on his bobber; I have yet to see anything like this commercially available.
