Of course all this wine speculation (region, type of grapes, and so on) far more depends on the weather conditions of a given season. But, There are certain regions that are more consistant than others as far as the grapes they produce year after year. And southeastern Washington has become one of those very consistant regions. I have heard that Walla Walla, Washington has become known far and wide among the worlds most distinguished wine aficionandos. Especially with Syrah (which happens to be the same grape as the Australian Shiraz).

But the best Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris comes from the Willamatte Valley in Oregon.
