Hi Frank, I use Symantic A/V Corporate Edition at work on about 1500 computers (I'm a Network Admin). I am a stout believer in Symantec/Norton antivirus and would recommend using it if you are willing to pay for the software. There are some really great free scanners out there though, one of which is Avast. They have a free "home" version you can use and in my experience (on about 20 systems) it works great. Check it out here: Avast Antivirus I know someone will ask... no, I don't work for Avast! :-)

My company uses Trend Micro on all work Pcs. I started using it a few years ago after Norton took control of my home PC. I have absaloutly no complaints about Trend Micro, nor do my sister, father, brother and Karens brother.

We use Mcafe at work. At home I use AVG Anti-Virus, it's free and works pretty darn good.

I use Symantec, and AVG at home also use a Firewall router FR318 (Netgear). Very happy with the setup.

I get the current Norton for $13. But price varies depending on the deals the suppliers get. Softwareoutlet.com or directdeals.com usually have the best prices but not always. I don't like the Norton 2007. I screws up my Email and causes it to time out.

I'd recommend AVG as very good free A/V; I use Norton AV on all of my companies PC's at work. Spybot Search and Destroy and Lavasofts' Ad-Aware are my two ther tools for cleansing and I hide the whole company behind a firewalled router attached to our T-1 AT&T line.
At home, I'm Mac behind a Linksys Router firewall...4 years, no virus, no spyware, no adware, no need for A/V (yet).

yep I use Spybot S&D and Advanced Windows Care along with SpywareBlaster (sister program to Spybot S&D). Advanced Windows care has a registry cleaner for dummies and also monitors start up programs as well as a few other good features and is free like the other 2.
Freecreed.com is a great site for free programs. The guy tries out free stuff he finds and then links to them or makes them available from his drive. If he hasn't had a chance to test something that looks good he says so in the description.

I use whatever the antivirus program is that yahoo provides, It's free.
Used to use Norton, but it was such a pita it was like a virus of its own.

The best antivirus out is Mac OSX Dang, I think this may qualify as a religious post. The mods are going to delete it...
