Actually, some were potentially better. The Plymouths and Dodges built there in the 40's and early 50's had a destroked Chrysler 6 of about the same displacement as the US versions. This was because they weren't selling enough cars to justify making 2 different block castings. Those fortunate enough to have a Canadian Plymouth could gain some 30 or 40 HP by dropping in a DeSoto or Chrysler crank and pistons.
