I'm a tube enthusiast as well. I play through a modded Peavey Delta Blues (30 watts, 15" speaker) and just love it. It's got tone from sweet smooth clean to raging overdrive. the only problem I have with it is that sometimes it's just too F'n loud.
I don't play out, although something may be coming up, but if I were in a cover band I think I could manage all the tones I would need with some pedal action. I can definitely see the attraction of something like the Line 6 amps and who knows in another 5-10 years maybe the majority will be saying "you play a tube amp?!"
