Just when you think the Pats are going on another Superbowl run and life is good. They get caught cheating. I'm very disappointed with Rodney Harrison & Bill Belichick. First Rodney gets caught taking HGH and then the Pats get caught video taping the Jets defensive signals. Not that it's not done by other teams but the Pats have been warned 3 times in the past for this violation. How stupid can you get. Now their reputation is ruined and the season seems tainted.

It just goes to show you that these guys aren't role models.

Cheating is cheating, whether it's performance enhancing drugs or breaking the league rules.

Sport is just like any other business - just with more money!

It doesn't matter how much money some people make, they always want more and will usually do anything to get it.

Shame really, like you say, these people are supposed to be role models.
Kids following these clowns will grow up thinking it's ok to scam and lie your way through life.

Here is an article about it:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-nflspying&prov=ap&type=lgns

Maybe they thought it was their patriotic duty to spy

I just wish the league could get it all wrapped up and put a complete stop to it by this weekend.

Have you been keeping up with the F1 spy scandle this season.

Supposedly a disgruntled employee at Ferrari passed on lots of secrets about this years car to the Maclaren team.

Very interesting goings on. Maclaren "may' even get kicked out of the championship over it.

Hmmmm... maybe the NFL will throw the Pats out of the NFL before Sunday (at least maybe just for this Sunday).

Cheating is rampant in out sociaty (USA) (I wonder about other countries?) When I was teaching high school, Very nearly all of my students flat out told me that they cheat any time they think it's necessesary. The business world is full of cheating. Sports. My grandmother and her whole generation would be and is appalled.would be appalled.

I dont think it is exclusive to the USA. I think it is everywhere. Sport particually, but that comes from sport no longer being a "sport". Professional sports is big business and 'win at all costs' is the order of the day.

Sadley, that same mentality is now taking control of youth sports.

Ah HA!!! I think I now understand why those paragons of fair and intelligent play, the Oakland Raiders, have consistantly been on the losing end of the scoreboard this past decade or so. They've refused to change with the times.

(yeah, right!)

Yeh and the rat's name is Bill Belichick! Just another line of crap in the Belijerk saga. If it's unsports man like I wouldn't put it past that rhymes with grasshole! This is not a Patriot rant but a Bill Belichick one. I have never liked the man from his Giant days as an assistant, his Cleveland stint, and with his latest gig.

The Chargers don't need any help.

I'm not sure about this weekend. It's really the only game on the schedule that makes me nervous.

Heard LaDainian Tomlinson say on the radio that the Pats motto is (and has been for a while), "If you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough".

Not to me, the helmet change was awesome. I watched them lose for years with the old design. That is dead to me.
There is something to be said for the uniform update, look at the Bucs, they got new uniforms and boom people thought they were an expansion team. I think the browns ought to look into it.
I also smell a rat here. I think the nfl is concerned the Pats are too much of a dynasty. With all of the changes in the league since the 70s this year after year of domination isn't supposed to happen anymore and now we have the Pats and yes Steve even those Colts winning most of the games.
I'm sure Bill isn't the only coach doing this. And I'll tell you another thing the one phrase you will not hear around here is " Bill ought to go".

Kind of reminds me of a certain President in the early 70's. Anyway, it looks like this act might be the just the beginning Ron. I'll have to call my uncle in Wells, ME and give him a hard time.

I'd say $750K in fines and the loss of a draft pick might get their attention.

I don't smell any rats, unless you are referring to professional athletes in general. Overpaid, spoiled, and still they can't play honest. Pro Sports in general is a waste of money. Just like everything any more, sold out what few morals there were for greed...

The Patriots' coach escaped suspension for using a video camera to spy on opposing coaches, with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell deciding instead on Thursday night to fine him $500,000 and dock the team $250,000 and a first-day draft pick next year.

It's no biggie. A coach caught stealing signals is no different than a lineman caught trying to get away with holding, or a linebacker keeping a cast on his hand after the bone is healed (makes a good weapon). What about Parcells in his Giant days? It's said he left outside doors open at the Meadowlands to create swirling winds and mess up passing and kicking games. Or teams over-watering fields to slow down runners? Or letting fields ice-up to slow down deep-threat passing?

You get caught, you pay the price, life goes on.

There is nothing wrong with trying to get an advantage, but, if you break a rule to get it, it's wrong. if there was not a rule against what the Pats did, then it would be no big deal.
