Went to see Tom McCoy last Wednesday, and he is out of the woods except for having his left foot amputated midway down the shin last Thursday along with initial pelvic fracture reduction. They will finish his pelvis surgery next Tuesday and then move him to a regular room for a couple weeks, while he's fitted with a prosthesis. Then he may go home. Yesterday, we talked a little about his wreck and though he had lost that part of his memory, he's recently been reminded by a few nightmares. He has a long road to rehab, but I promised I'd be with him. He wants me to go motorcycle shopping with him after Christmas, asking if he should get an automatic or electric shifter on another Gold Wing. I told him to wait and see what was most comfortable. I can't wait to see that grin on his face again.
Thanks to all of you for your concerns and prayers.
Remember to be watchful.
