I resently rode (during my Euro-trip) through a couple of bad patches of fog (over 100 km's in each case) and realised how dispensable we actually are.
As I was not going at any significant speed (mainly due to bad roads coupled with thick fog), numerous (read most) cars overtook me and promptly went on to cut me off before completely passing me, for fear of colliding with oncoming traffic (not visible due to fog).
It got so bad I was expecting it (and rightly so) from EVERY cage that overtook us.

I guess the cage driver's choice was to rather run me off the road, than ... etc.,etc.

Sorry to hear about your friend Dennis and I hope he recovers rapidly.
I also hope they string the drunk driver up to ... dry out.
