You should remember though that any rental vehicle is likely to be mistreated and poorly looked after.
Now, my Night Train is about as smooth running as my America because it employs the same balance shaft technology. Being a good deal heavier, it rides smoother but can't corner as well. Both bikes are about equal as far as performance mods, opened up intake and exhaust. I've had the America up to 115 on the speedometer (about 105 real speed) with a little bit more to go. It took a bit of time to get there. I've had the 'Train up to 105 while passing a truck, and I had 2 full gears to go. There is a telephone junction box about 1/8 mile down the road. Both bikes show 75 MPH when I pass it. So, the Triumph is about as quick as the HD at low - mid range speeds. The HD is faster without question. The HD is better for traveling. The Triumph is better for ging too fast on back roads
