No offence meant but:

I read your remarks regarding top speed etc.
I also noted you call it a dog.
What were you expecting ... an MV Agusta masterpiece? (167 bhp and 30 grand).
If it's real performance you are looking for perhaps you should have looked for a sports bike (I did and also have one in my stable, along with a bigger tourer).
I would think anyone wanting to do 140 mph on a cruiser is pushing his luck.
The SM is probably my 38th bike and I would say it does what it's supposed to do (and sometimes even what it's not) very well.
Especially at the price you Americans pay for it (for the record I paid circa. 14.000 US$ for my SM).
