Went for a short ride today...stopped at three or four places, turned the bike off, did my thing, then returned to the bike with no problem. At the final stop, I jump on, turn the ignition on, and click...nothing. Battery seems fine, lights are strong...but nothing. Any ideas anyone? I kicked the bike into second gear, rolled it aways, and it kicked right on when I dropped the clutch...I'm no mechanic at all, but what does this seem like? A wire in my starter button? My starter? Somebody please help!! Lee

I had this happen and all it came down to was a loose battery cable at the terminal. wiggle the cable if it slides at all its too loose.

couple of guys had the starter solenoid crap out on them, with the same description as yours. When it clicked as you say, they were able to jump the solenoid contacts with a coin to get um going

Yeah, Mike I will definitely keep everyone posted, I've been reading about you starting problems, hopefully that's not what's wrong with mine ...I haven't had a chance to fool with the bike today, hopefully tonight when I get off work....Bill, yeah, I tried the kickstand, left in gear thing (I HAVE been that dumb before haha)

Yeah I finally had the time and the inclination to take it to the dealer and leave mine for a few days...it WAS the starting solinoid (behind the right side cover)that was bad on mine...I've had a jump switch on mine since the GA rally but try the coin (across the contacts) it will get you home...just be firm and deliberate with your movement of the coin to the contacts or you may get some sparks and a bit of welding, nothing terrible but startleing if you dont expect it
