Well, new to me that is. I just picked up this 02 America with 72K miles on it. It actually runs pretty well. It needs a fair bit of cleaning as some of the chrome is rusty. I'll drop in a Wiseco 904 kit, new cams, Barnett clutch, brakes, shocks... the typical go-fast stuff.

I'm not sure which way I'll go with the customizing. I must confess that the bike fits my 6'-2" lard-****** pretty well. The floorboards are a wee bit too level to the ground for me. Maybe they're adjustable... I'll find out soon enough. A heel shift lever is a must add-on.

3 of the 4 glass dash idiot light lens are missing. If anyone has some spares they want to trade for, drop me a line.

All-in-all, I'm pleased to have a cruiser back in the stable. I'll hold onto this one as I want to develop some new bits I prototyped on my old Speedmaster, but never brought to market.

/Mike

Nice looking bike. 02 was a good year, as is the color you got!

John,

I sold my eBobber some time ago.

Pete,

Feeling much better again. Took a bit of a spill on my Ducati and hyper-extended my shoulder and some ribs. Glad to be posting again around here now that I have something revelant to talk about.

Phil,

That's the plan. I just installed a set of old Knucklehead "Speedster" bars. Were it not raining so hard, I'll pull it out and snap a pic. Later.

I've got to say, I'm less than impressed with the Triumph factory accessories on this bike. The windshield for instance is virtually useless and the toiletry bag-size saddlebags are a joke. Ebay here they come!

What the heck is that bar doing across the handle bars? It's not a dirt bike for crying out loud!

Well now, back 'in the day', that was called a "Hollywood Bar." Very high style, and named after actor Clark Gable who rode a Harley (or maybe an Indian) equipped with the same bar. It's an aquired taste.

Can you actually see the speedo through that bar or is just the way the pic has been taken.

WOW 72.000 miles????????? I must admit if you guys are getting this kind of mileage from these new triumphs I may have to hang on to mine...

Please Please PM me when you do that Big bore kit,, my speedmaster isn't fast at all topping about 112MPH,, if I can get 130-140 from it I'd like to keep it but my only hope is the big bore kit w/NOS,, and thats not alot to ask for these days with the current bikes out now..

Other than the tired response 'because I can', why do you want to go 130-140?

Is there anywhere in the US that you can go 130-140, legally? Other than the track?

72,000 isn't that much on a new Triumph I have heard of several guys over 100,000 and still going. I pass 120 on my clock but it is a little optimistic. My friends BB night train with 6 spd trans and dyno tune can't catch me and I don't have the BB.

I forgot about that post above but yeah we can race at Louden in NH during the track-days and you can go as fast as you can out there,, we can also do 1/4 mile runs but thats more for the kids..

I have a few tips for my bike,, maybe the BB kit and the NOS was a bit extreme but if you don't ask then you won't know,, I do need good pipes on it though.

the thing about the harleys if they do get up to any speeds they cannot hold it there,, my buddy has a bike forsale in Ebay right now for $58.000 and he can't even make it from Ma to Laconia without stuf flying off--> lost a 120.00 billet mirror on the last run.

Yes, I can see the speedo unobstructed.
