Americas or Speedmasters with newly looking chrome pipes may be ridden plenty. My pipes look like brand new and the bike is two years old with over 9000 miles on it. The bikes were designed with double walled headers to prevent the bluing and golding of the pipes. I want mine to stay that way. If the bike is properly tuned and not running too lean, it shouldn't happen. If you leave it the way it comes from the factory, it will discolor. Although it came that way, I personally don't think the engine designers really meant it to be that way.
