Hi All
Just returned from a 1700 mile round trip to the south of france on my 07 America. Was it wet - Oh boy YES, but apart from that very enjoyable especially in the mountains. The bike behaved itself impeccably.
The thing is that when I was cleaning the bike on the weekend I noticed that a stone must have hit the headlight glass which is broken and letting in water.
I called my local triumph dealer to get a replacement glass lens and would you believe they only supply the whole lamp unit at a cost of over £110. Hmmmmm!
They were kind enough to give me the phone number of "Sprints Manufacturing" in Salisbury (01985 850821) who break bikes but also I found out do replacement glass for headlights for £25 +p&p.
Why can't Triumph do this?
Anyway - hope this helps anyone with the same problem or any other parts requirements.

Andy

find yourself a Sylvaina sealed beam Automotive headlamp Round seven inch High/Low beam...
Hear in the States they are very common at auto supply stores and cheap...$16.00 for the better halogen styles...

They plug right in (you'll have to let the small parking lamp dangle in the headlamp bucket)...and they are a GREAT improvement over the stock lamp

I'll second that - I picked up a cheapie car headlight at the local car parts place for about AU$17 when some fool on a rocket 3 kicked up gravel in front of me. Again no provision for parking light (take the bulb out and tape it up to the other wires in the bucket) but a much improved low beam pattern and around 10% of the triumph price.

If you have a choice between the sealed or semi-sealed I'd take the semi - that way you can continue to use the standard bulb and replace it at gas stations in the middle of the night when it's most likely to blow.

I had the same thing happen on a 7000 mile road trip last fall, Coming out of Yellowstone NP. It over took weeks to get a lens from the dealership in Tulsa OK (the dealership in Little Rock AR could get it in 5 days, but I all ready ordered it from Tulsa) I strongly believe it is a dealership customer service issue.

FYI the head light lens in the USA is reflective slightly to the right while in Europe it is reflecting to the left. It seems across the pond people drive on the wrong side of the road, and the lights reflect away from on coming traffic.

It would be a GREAT asset to true riders to have a prefered dealers list when traveling abroad, across state, or country. As a matter of saftey!!!!!!!!! Tire, head light lens, or other mishaps happen!

Plz drive safe and all you web heads out there lets get a list of GREAT dealers we riders can depend on. After all there is more HD dealers than fleas on a counrty dog.
