Did a nice 3 hour loop through the mountains with a buddy from work today. I-5 up to Woodland, WA-503 up to Cougar and past, NF-90 to Wind River road, down to Carson, and WA-14 back to Vancouver. Got a couple nice pics of St Helens in her slumber.
Gorgeous day for it too.

And I spotted some nice trails to explore when I come back with the Jeep

Sure
Mt St Helens
St Helens through trees

Krash - I was actually thinking about a Scrambler while I was looking at those trails...
...like I could actually afford another money-sucking toy
The Rubicon is bad enough, I've probably put a couple thou on it over the last year.

I'll have to put up a couple pics of Mt Hood then, especially for you guys from back east with no real mountains (just kidding)
I get a pretty good view of that sucker every day on the way to work.

Nice pictures, thank you for posting them

Now, please excuse my ignorance. But is that smoke comming from thr top of ther mountain/volcano, or is it a strange looking cloud formation.

If its smoke coming from the volcano...... RUUUUUUN!

Not smoke, steam. The enviromentalists outlawed smoke and anything potentially harmful to the air quality, so now our volcano is only allowed to produce steam.

Well that makes perfectly good sence.

I tell you, you really do have to love these enviromentalists. They're always looking out for our own good.

May not be the highest but I think we can count it.

Notorious for its frequent bad weather conditions, Mount Washington's climate can rival that of Antarctica. Well over a hundred people have died on the mountain, many having succumbed to hypothermia from wind chills which have been known to reach -120°F. And it was here, on the roof of what is now the Stage Office, where the world's highest wind speed was recorded: 231 MPH.

The average annual temperature on the summit is only 26.5°F, with the records being -47°F and 72°F. On average, 256 inches of snow falls annually, with the seasonal maximum being 566 inches. Even months like May have seen around 100 inches! Mt. Washington's mean wind speed is a gale-force 35.3 MPH, with hurricane-force winds occurring every third day (on average).

My mind and body are still out of tune I hope they run into each other real soon "

I found (what I think) is the absolute best place to grab a pic of Mt. Hood; from that new tram that goes up to OHSU (I think it is still free on Saturdays).

But... back on topic... for anyone that visits the Pacific Northwest, that ride around Mt. St. Helens is an absolute must do!
