You didn't mention what screen you have or how tall you are. I bought the Triumph Summer Screen and it did the same thing. I'm 6' tall and the buffeted wind hit me right in the face. It was far worse than no screen. I replaced it with a Clearview shield that fits the Triumph hardware and couldn't be happier. The Clearview is taller and better designed.
If you have the Triumph Touring screen, it may also be too short for your height. Clearview makes replacements for those as well. If you place a level yard stick on top of the screen while sitting on the bike, it should hit you between your mouth and nose which should put the wind to the top or above of your helmet.
