Stopped in at the local St Louis dealer yesterday, aside from remembering them for being arrogant prigs last time I visited ( in the 1990s' ), I notice they want $40 for a Triumph tshirt that the dealers in Illinois and Iowa charge $29 for, unbelievable.
I remember back about 96 or 97 when I was interested in a TBird and they simply had the stated attitiude that they were the only show in town for Triumph, and didnt have to deal. I see they are still the same ( jerks ).If they gouge for a shirt, I imagine they will for service, and everything else.

when I was first looking around for the best deal on a new America I approached 4 dealers in different areas within a radius of approx 70 miles. 3 dealers quoted me approx the same $16000 and one dealer quoted $15250, went back to 1st. dealer who quoted me $16100 on road to see if he could match it and he told me in no uncertain words that the dealer that quoted me $15250 had made a mistake and if not was quoting too low - he was really ******, didn't even want to match it (this was for a cash in the hand deal).
He gave me the impression that they were the only dealer locally and they shouldn't have to discount at all, no guessing where I bought my bike.

Heneryhawk,I was in Kansas City,Mo. a couple of years ago.They have the oldest Triumph dealer in the country there.I know that's aways from St.Louis but maybe they may deal more.They can always mail or UPS parts. I do not live there but they seemed alright.They also had a write-up of them in TORQUE magazine a few issues back.

I guess I could say the same for British-USA in S. Houston, Tx, but I learned that by showing up a lot around there they started recognizing me. I talk to other customers that may be asking questions about these bikes, and of course I'm only going to have positive things to say about them, so I'm not hurting their sales any. B-USA happens to be one of the most well-stocked accessory and motorcyle equipment/clothing stores I know of, so in a lot of ways, they ARE the only show in town. I buy a few things now and then, and when in the mood, or when the right party is behind the counter, I get discounted pricing. But I don't ask for it. I would not walk in to a restaraunt and expect to pay less than menu price, either. I am glad B-USA is there, and the health of the dealership is in my best interest. I would be almost as lost without that store as I would be without this forum! I burned that dealer bad on my sales survey TRIUMPH sent me after buying the bike in 2004, but that was all on the p-o-s salesman that was not even working there by the time I got the survey. The store has really increased stocking levels of general merchandise since then, and carries good quality stuff, too. It is nice to drop by and "browse" when I can, and sit on the new bikes and such. I swore the place off once, but they have made up for it. I just had to be there for that to happen.

HeneryHawk, You need to visit RPM Motorwerks in Belleville, Ill (approx. 20 miles from St Louis). You'll have no problems with that crew. They are Awesome.

Gotta agree.....I walked out of the St Louis dealership in '03 with checkbook in hand. Couldn't get anyone to even talk to me about purchasing a bike.
Steve and Teresa at RPM are the best.

I live in the Chicago area. I used to live in MO in the from 95 to 2000. I purchased my bike in Dubuque, Iowa from Sindt. They are terrific people who have given me a great deal and I will go for the 160 ride for service.I also have visited and had service here in the Chicago area at MCC, they also are quite nice. I will say though, that to wander into the St Louis dealer was a wake up to the type of dealer I have NO respect for.

I had pretty much the same experience with the St. Louis Dealer in 2005-Stood around for a couple of hours looking at Triumphs and no help came.
