Actually I find it quite handy. The BMW type plug is supposed to give a more secure fit than a standard cigarette lighter. The plug is available from your dealer so you can make an adapter from the Powerlet male to a standard cigarette lighter female. Someone also told me that it's available from a John Deere dealer, although I can't confirm that. As was mentioned above parts are available through

I use if for a lot of stuff. Camping, boosting dead bikes (takes a while), charging my cell phone, mp3 player, battery tender, etc. Don't know how I ever did without it.
