My boss is a Harley guy, rides a Road King and is pretty hardcore about riding. Anyhooo, he just got back from his annual vacation, this year riding out to Colorado and Nevada with some buddies. He just had his engine rebuilt maybe a month-6 weeks ago, and just found out he's having it rebuilt AGAIN!!! I asked a mechanic buddy we both work with who also rides HD, if he's getting his Genuine Harley Parts from Shanghai? I then told him to offer the use of my bike for a week since I have stitches in my left hand and can't ride. Well, I came back over to him (and my boss) and he told me that Bob(my boss) would rather walk.(jokingly) I replied "I guess that's about your only option now huh?", and walked away with a smirk, and out of wrench-throwing range... Am I mean... heehee

Naw Greg! You weren't mean! That's the problem with the world today. You try to 'splain the error of their ways to most people nowdays, and VOILA!...suddenly YOU'RE the "mean guy" in the group! T'ain't right I tell ya! (don't ask me how I know this)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Anyone that would rather walk than ride deserves two rebuilds. In a row. Expensive rebuilds. Rebuilds that take until winter to test ride...

a guy at work was was checking the oil on his Blacked out midnite express harley, or whatever its called. got 6000 miles on it, and uses a quart of oil every 1000. He asked me what miles I have on the bonny(13500) and how much oil it uses(none between changes) he just shook his head, and said maybe next time a Triumph. hmmm, maybe... G
I never wanted to lead, and I never wanted to follow.
I just wanted to ride.

That seems to be a common problem these days. My riding lawnmower threw a rod with only 6 hours on it. I think everyone is buying counterfeit nuts and bolts from the commies in the far east.

I would never have offered my scoot. No one rides my bike but me. Same goes for wrenching unless it's something I don't have the equipment to do.

2 motor rebuilds in just over 6 mths, how can any owner justify that and still stay loyal to any manufacturer - suppose he's got more money than sense, even my Nortons are less maintaince than that. Hoffo

Just hope he forgets about this come rase time.

Maybe when raise time comes around he'll throw in a bonus to get that "proper" American motorcycle (of course to be used to buy two more Triumphs) Soren

If IU was him I would be mad at the guy that did the work. Even HD isn't that bad.

Geoff, I'm just about the same mileage on my Speedy. It doesn't use a drop of oil either.
Heck, you barely have to check the air in the tires!

Ed, maybe just like the paint that they use on our kids toys, they use a bit too much lead making their pistons and conrods!! On a serious note though, at least he was lucky enough to get all the way home from Colorado before it gave up the ghost!! 1800 miles is a long way to be from home on a busted motor....

I am getting tired of all the ribbing on Harleys, it was recently noted about their success that 90 percent of all Harleys ever built are still on the road.....
the other 10 percent made it back home!
