I got some good advice from you all a little while ago regarding my mods. The plan is to add the freak and Pingel Petcock to the Thunderbike pipes and removed AI on my 03 Speedy. The consensus was 150 mains, 45 pilots and the TBS needles-no shims. I dont have ready access to the TBS needles but the kit from Jenks bolts has Thruxton Needles. How will this change affect the size of the mains and pilots?
...yes, that is a single seat...no, I will not put the other seat on...yes, I am selfish...yes, you should buy your own bike

thruxton needles run richer so a drop in main size would be in order

You can see the difference in the three needles and that the Thruxton has a more radical taper. Dealers should have the TBS needles. Give Palm Beach Triumph or Pure Triumph a call. You'd probably get them in the same time as the Jenks.

Do the needles have the same effect on the 865 motors or are they only beneficial for the 790s?

The 865 motors have different needles, as well as larger slide holes in the carbs. I believe they are pretty close to the Thruxton needles. I would need to see the numbers on them to be sure though.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.
