I am gobsmacked!! The fact the "adults" are wearing helmets and didn't even care enough to protect their children's heads is unspeakable... and the baby... don't even get me started... luckily, the "mother" is wearing protective flip flops for emergency situations....ride safe...Gordon

I was thinking that too, Gordon.
The second pic, stoopid actions aside (that's for another rant!), the guy bothers to wear a helmet, jeans, boots and gloves - what's he let the kid wear? Next to nadda.
Makes my blood boil.

I worked in the Needles Dist, Canyonlands National Park from 79-81. Once I stopped a guy on a dirtbike, properly geared up from head to toe, sitting in front of him (as pictured) was his little daughter wearing shorts and a tank top. He didn't "get it" . I only hope she survived to adulthood.

At least, if anything, the first lady has 1 of her kids wearing a helmet, even though hes swimming in it. That second guys retarted.

It makes me laugh though cause my dad used to ride me on the gas tank like that when I was around 4 or 5 on a 250 yamaha enduro. We only went trail riding though, no roads except to get to the spots to ride. He used to climb these crazy steep hills and have to bail..I was always screaming my head off, trapped under the bike, while the engines reving to the sky cause its laying on the throttle, rear wheels kicking dirt everywhere, then my dad shuts of the bike and tells me we're doing it again...ahah

I guess all this trauma is what turned me into quite the daredevil..ahah

As the old saying goes, you don't need a license to have kids, just to drive or fly!! Just like the mom who left her son in the car in 94 degree heat recently while she worked a shift (the result was all too predictable, the son is now dead), and then put him in a trash bag under the sink really makes me think sometime...
Oh, heck with thinking, just turn the child over to someone else and lock these people up. At least the child would then have a chance to live!!!

Fake...Photoshoped

yeah but now to the really pressing stuff...like what type of bike is that flipflopin momma straddlin...looks kinda like a British side cover...but then that funky chrome valve cover...and what kind of hard bags are those...do you think easybrackets will work with them...and it looks to be a one thumper...kinda small for three-up riding...perhaps she's running aftermarket pipes and rejetted...but what with????

Well stupid or not, My first ride on a motor cycle was age seven sitting on the gas tank of my fathers Harley. Still remember it, wasnt a long ride he had the old suicide hand shift, So we probly stayed in first gear the whole time.

Something like that could scare the kid enough to never want to get on one again too. My first ride was at maybe 12 years old. Scared the heck out of me, didn't even think about getting my own street bike til I was 36.

To me, it looks like the baby, in the first pic, is actually a doll.

Having spent a fair amount of time around the world, I see whole families going out on their little motorcycle. A couple of kids in front of Dad (driving), Mom holding the baby and several plastic bags of groceries. Heck, I've seen delivery guys balance 3 big ol'propane bottles on their bike.
Here are some examples of the common riding arrangement in Thailand:

I still remember a guy, in Taiwan, with a dozen chickens, hanging from each side of the seat as he just putt-putted along.

Yes I was going to mention that also. It is common in other parts of the world to travel in such ways. So common it's part of normal daily life. Dangerous maybe but I am not sure we living the cushy American life should be criticizing it.

As for the idiot doing the wheelie, well hang em high.

There is a guy around here, obviously a new rider who wears flipflops, shorts and no shirt. He drags his feet for 20-30ft when taking off and looks so shaky and tense I'm not sure he is enjoying himself.

Just because it's common doesn't make it any safer.
