I tried using a hammer against a block of 2x4, and also a rubber mallet. But, this axle didn't respond, so i had to use a hammer straight on...then after getting it flush i still had to pound it out by using a large bolt, then a long piece of steel rod i had lying around to get it through.
It was pretty tough, just didn't slide right out by any means.
But the threads on the axle don't look like they were damaged by the pounding.
Axle is kinda rusty here and there and real dry, so i'll definitely clean it up and put some grease on it when i re-install.
Well, you gotta learn sometime and thanks to you guys i got 'er done.
