I learned to cook "helping" my grandma at a young age. Although I was no expert by the time I got married I could make a fairly wide variety of items. Unlike Deb who I swear could scald water at that time. Over the last 32 years we've both become pretty good cooks, obvious if you judge by our shapes. I make some things especially well and she with others. We trade off depending on who's in the mood and what we're having. The dogs especially like her cooking as she drops more and usually lets them have it.
+1 except as the oldest kid I also cooked for my siblings when "babysitting" and I'm the family food dropper when it comes to the pooches. Lately, since I've become desk bound, Mrs. T has handled more of the evening repast preparations. It's all good...
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)
