So some of you know the whole story but to keep it short for those that don't. I've been having trouble with my brand new Jeep and afer a total of 13 days in the shop over 4 trips Chrysler finally decided to pay for me to have a rental.
Well I was on my bike today and had to get my rental and my bike to my house. I enlisted the help of two of my friends Aaron and Jim. Jim gave Arron a ride to enterprise while I rode my bike that way Arron could drive the rental back to my house. After getting straightened out with enterprise they made it very clear that I was the only one allowed to drive the rental. I knew it had been a couple of years since Aaron rode but I asked him if he was ok to ride my bike out of the parking lot so we could switch with out the guys at enterprise seeing. I watched Aaron ride very unsteady out of the parking lot and fear for my bike took over so I tried to follow him best I could but got stopped by a car comming into the lot. See, the driveway Aaron left out of and I was trying to follow out of was a one way and I was forced to back up, thinking only about my bike in uncertain hands I put the car in reverse and backed right into my friend Jim. I got out of the rental and was talking to Jim for just a few seconds when my phone rang. It was Aaron letting me know that he hit a telephone pole with my bike. My bike is F'ed. He said what happened is that a car pulled out infront of him forcing him to swerve out of the way and he clipped the pole with the handle bars. The handle bars and risers are bent, the headlight is trash, the controlls are garbage the tank is dented and scuffed the rear brake lever is bent beyond fixing... I didn't get a whole lot of time to look at the bike because I had to run back to the rental place to deal with the car accident. Aaron is fine, he got a couple of scrapes and insurance will take care of the bike but in the mean time I'm out a bike and I'm none too happy about it. I'll have no bike for the NorEast Rally, if I do make it there I'll be in my Jeep, today I am not happy

Let my dying thought be that every mile was fun and let my tombstone read,"They never made one fast enough for me."

Will we have to rename "Murphy's law" after you?

That is just so wrong, sorry to hear it. I hope everything gets fixed with no more bad news for you.

That sucks. Could you rent a bike or know anyone with 2 or 3 that would lend you one?

Oh man, if you didn't have bad luck, you wouldn't have any luck at all. Hope you get it all sorted out.

Oh Tim! So not cool!!!
Call Armand's right away- you've met Pat Murphy, I bet they could get your bike in quick for a fix up before the rally. Let me know if you need help getting to/from anyplace (or if I can help by batting my pretty green eyes at Pat or Armand Sr. to get you back in the wind ASAP. Flirting shamelessly has it's place, and desperate times call for desperate measures.) I mean it Tim- let me know what you need for help.

Ya know, besides the mountains of information there is to be had on this site the people are great. Thank you all for the encouragement and help. I'm gonna have to put the bike in the shop and let insurance take care of it because most of the damage is to the front end I don't want to try to do it myself just to find out after I think I got it done that there are misalignments I just didn't know about. But really thank you.

Good choice since you have the "King of the Dyno" behind the front end. Sorry to read about your misfortune, I'm just glad no one was hurt. Get that baby spruced up and back on the road.

Hey Tim,

Under "misery loves company", last year I pulled the bike into my driveway for lunch. I had to make a LD phone call, so I got into the truck (old fashion analogue bag phone) which was parked in the garage. Not thinking I didn't close the door, no cell signal, so I decided to back out into the open. Open truck door catches on the cinder block garage wall barking off some paint. "Great, this is just great". Pull ahead to dislodge the truck door. Pull my feet inside, properly close the door. Resume back up procedure. Hear a minor crash, motorcycle is laying on it's side, right hand mirror slightly bent, right foot peg pretty much entirely snapped off, windshield with a slight crack. "Great, isn't this just great".

The bad news, Triumph wanted $65-$70 for a replacement peg. The good news, within 4 days a kindly ba.com member from Florida mailed me his spare footpeg free-of-charge, how cool is that?

Can't remember if I completed the stupid phone call

Cheers man

JH

That bike was just too powerful for friends to ride.
Like Rob said if you need help bring it up to NH I can contribute some parts also, I just have to do an inventory.

Sorry man that must have sucked on so many levels. Did you at least get a cool rental upgrade?
