I told a friend the Triumph Rocket III is the largest displacement production bike in the world. This info was according to magazine articles and Triumph advertisements, and sales literature. My buddy took exception, saying the Boss Hoss @ 5700cc is the largest.
Any idea how Triumph makes the claim on the Rocket III?
Thanks.

The key word there is "production bike". The Boss Hoss bikes are considered to be custom bikes with limited production as opposed to a production year model by a manufacturer.

Also the Rocket 3's motor was designed as a motorcycle engine. Not as a car engine shoe horned into a bike.

I was riding with LegendRyder 2-3 weeks ago in Dahlonega, Ga and saw TWO Boss Hoss's with nitrous bottles on them. Kind of reminded me of the movie Men In Black when Tommy Lee Jones says "don't ever push the red button".

I don't consider Boss Hoss as a real motorcycle as far as comparison goes since the engine is an existing engine for other purposes rather than an engine desinged for a cycle,I would say the same for Lenos jet powered bikes and the Viper powered one and that ones even technically has 4 wheels to boot.

Boss Hoss? Seen 'em at Bike Week last year. No gears, straight line riding only, by the look of 'em. Done nothin for me.

Tell your friend: "The Rocket is a motorcycle. The Boss Hoss is a joke". I would dare say the R-3 handles better in parking lots than my America. But my experience in rocketry is limited to freeway riding, with a few miles on a twisty road.

If he counts the Boss Hoss as a production bike, it's still beat by that monster with the radial aircraft engine. That's sort of Brit being as the engine is made in the commonwealth.

i believe that when you order a hoss, you only get the frame and some parts, you supply the engine. there is a dealer localy and i asked him one night at a gathering about a hoss chopper( a real lowslung, strechted out chopper) he was showing off and he quoted me some outragous price for the frame, i said scuse me, and he said that was without the engine. so i am under the impresion you get your own engine. and true, the hoss is not a production bike, they are one off customs, good for a straight line only, and a stock Rocket will beat them in the 1/8mi. they do it all the time at our little local race track.
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

I'm pretty sure you can buy them turnkey. But only if you just robbed a bank or sold your internet start-up.

You definitely can buy complete bikes. They offer 3 2-wheel models and 2 3-wheel models. I not so sure you can order them as kit bikes. Here's a link: Boss Hoss
