Hmmm, 56 HP means you must have the 865 engine. First thing to do is change the cams, especially the exhaust. With the stock valve timing, that engine doesn't respond well to the stuff that gets you lots of cheap/free power on the 790 version.
When your local politician shows up fishing for votes, shake his hand and thank him for insisting that they screw up a perfectly good motorcycle.
